Join us on a once in a lifetime experience in Uganda. This July, we'll be hosting an intimate trip to connect the Habitas member family to the work of Habitas RISE. We'll experience the beauty, community and culture of Uganda. Our trip takes us into the ghetto of Kyebando and Nakivale Refugee Settlement to help open Uhuru Land and Amphitheater for the World Cup.
Habitas RISE is reframing philanthropy to do more than ‘give back’-- instead, we work with, inspire and connect people around the globe. Our work in Uganda is to focused on reframing the refugee experience.
After asking locals what they needed in their community, we embarked on an ambitious, resident-lead project to create a town square with an amphitheater for refugees to host music, film, and other cultural gatherings for years to come. Completion of the Uhuru (Swahili for “freedom”) Amphitheater, is slated for Spring of 2018, and is the first step in creating a sense of permanence and community for years to come.
